The Democrats have their man in the race to replace former Rep. Tim Murphy.
Democractic committee members from Allegheny Westmoreland, Washington and Greene counties voted Sunday afternoon to nominate Conor Lamb for the special election in Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district on March 13.

“I’m honored that the Committee members have put their trust in me to fight for our district and make our voices heard in Washington,” said Lamb, a 33-year-old former federal prosecutor, in a statement.

He will face Republican nominee Rick Saccone.
Lamb, the nephew of Pittsburgh city controller Michael Lamb, is a Marine Corps veteran.
“People in our district are sick and tired of being lied to by hypocrites who promise us jobs but never deliver, promise us health care then try to take it away, promise to protect Medicare and Social Security then try to gut these programs to pay for corporate tax cuts,” said Conor Lamb, who lives in Mt. Lebanon. “I’m going to expose that hypocrisy.”
