PITTSBURGH — Duck Donuts Franchising Company, best known for its made-to-order donuts announced Monday the grand opening of its first franchise location in Pittsburgh.

The franchise, originally founded in the Outer Banks, has made its way up to Pittsburgh thanks to owners and Pittsburgh natives Andrew and Kate Jarusinsky.

“In 2015, while vacationing in the Outer Banks, I learned about franchising opportunities and decided to bring the unique concept of serving warm, delicious and made-to-order donuts to our hometown of Pittsburgh,” said Andrew Jarusinsky in a release. “We are excited to celebrate the opening of our first location, sharing the tastes of the Outer Banks with those in Pittsburgh!”

The store reflects the franchise’s iconic beach theme and family-friendly atmosphere.

Along with serving donuts, the store will also serve the franchise’s signature coffee blends: Riptide Roast, Light House Blend and Sunset Pier Decaf. Tea, espresso, breakfast sandwiches, donut sundaes with Breyer’s ice cream and more will also be featured on the menu.

Duck Donuts specializes in made-to-order donuts. Customers can choose from a variety of topping combinations including chocolate icing with sprinkles or maple icing with bacon. The donut shop offers a viewing area where patrons can watch their donuts being made.

Donuts at the Pittsburgh location will be made fresh to order seven days a week.
