Family gathers to remember shooting victim who died at Children's Hospital

LAWRENCEVILLE, Pa. — UPDATE 10:45 p.m.

Family and friends gathered Tuesday night to remember the life of Raheem Porter, 23.

They held a balloon release at Dilworth Park on Mount Washington to honor the young father who was shot and killed Monday evening.

"I'm tired of this 'no snitching' bull crap. Damn that. Y'all took a life. Y'all took a father. Y'all took a brother," said Kim Porter, Raheem's mother. "This killing gotta stop. I'm tired of it. Senseless killing, for what? And whoever did this wanted him dead."

Raheem, who was described as a free-spirited, hard worker, now leaves behind a daughter with his girlfriend.

"My daughter gotta grow up without her dad and she's only 1 year 'old," Taila Dolby said.

"Vengeance is mine, says the Lord," Kim Porter said, addressing whoever shot and killed her son. "You will have your day."

At last check, Pittsburgh police have not made any arrests and still do not know where the shooting happened.

UPDATE 2 p.m.

Channel 11 has learned the name of the man who died at Children's Hospital on Monday evening after arriving in a car, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Raheem D. Porter, 23, of Beltzhoover, was pronounced dead inside the hospital.

The 21-year-old driver has been transported to UPMC Presbyterian, where he is in stable but critical condition.

Two gunshot victims drove themselves to the emergency entrance of Children's Hospital on Monday evening.

Pittsburgh police are still investigating where the victims were shot. It did not happen at the hospital.

One man is dead, and the other man was in surgery after they were found in a white Chevy Equinox.

Both men had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

"He was just, like, 'Help, help' and all I heard was, 'Someone got shot,'" said Zsavle Carr, who witnessed the scene unfold just before 7 p.m. Monday. "I seen a car trying to veer through traffic, get through traffic. He's driving fast as hell right into the emergency exit."

The passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver was last reported to be in critical condition.
