FREEDOM, Pa. — A strap broke loose as an SUV was being towed, and now a Beaver County couple is facing serious charges for living in filth.
A mother told Channel 11 News that her son was spared when a runaway SUV came barreling into their yard.
Freedom police said Albert Chadwell was towing the vehicle to "scrap" it, hoping to get money to turn his lights back on. But when he tried to move it out of his neighbor's yard, the mother, who did not want to be identified, said. "They started yelling at me, calling me all kinds of horrible things, and that they wished they would have hit me, and all of this in front of my children."

The woman claimed it was like that until police came.
The investigation led police to Chadwell's home on Sixth Avenue, where they said they discovered filth: dog and human feces, urine-soaked mattresses, and rat droppings. Four small children, including an 8-month-old baby, live in the home. Police said the kids were sleeping on the floor.
Chadwell faces several harassment and disorderly conduct charges. He and his wife, Katie, both face child endangerment charges.
