The owner of the apartment units told Channel 11 no one lives in the building.

Fire officials said the heat and humidity had been a challenge for the firefighters.

One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion at the hospital, but is okay and came back to the scene, according to the Summit Hose Co. fire chief Jousha Fox.

Fox said they believe the fire started in the basement due to a ceiling fan that was left on and was overheating.

The fire spread into the walls, which made the fire hard to fight, Fox said.
