HARMONY, Pa. — To ensure a fallen hero is not forgotten, his community is pushing for Seneca Valley Middle School to be renamed in his honor.
Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Gloyer, who graduated from the Seneca Valley School District and became a Green Beret in the Army, died in 2016 while fighting in Afghanistan.
“Fearless. Unstoppable. Words that absolutely apply to Ryan,” Chief Warrant Officer 2 Isaac Meade said.

Gloyer’s family, friends and Seneca Valley students went before the school board petitioning for the name change
“This student-driven initiative presents the opportunity for Ryan’s legacy to raise up these middle school students to be more than what they ever thought they could be,” Richard Gloyer, Ryan’s father, said.
The school board will discuss and possibly vote on the proposal in February.
