Joe Manganiello visits patients, families at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh-area native Joe Manganiello returned home Friday to visit with patients and their families at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Manganiello, who grew up in Mt. Lebanon, has a lead role in the new animated movie, Smurfs: The Lost Village.

"I credit Pittsburgh very much with the man that I am today," Manganiello said.

He visited the hospital for a special advance screening of the movie, which will be released April 7.

"I think it's really important when you come from somewhere, to let kids know that anything’s possible. They can dream big."

Manganiello also is a member of the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.

"This is always going to be my home and I love kids," Manganiello said.
