Woman says man smashed her fence, window but police couldn’t charge him because he was ‘too drunk’

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Erika Carter said she was with her 2-month-old and 17-month-old children when a man busted her window out.

“I heard a big boom,” she said. “Next thing I know, I hear a big glass break.”

It was about 1 a.m. She then heard someone messing with her door.

“Before I came downstairs I saw a guy like down here with the piece of my fence and he is looking up,” Carter said. “I didn’t know what I was going to walk into. I didn’t know if he was going to be downstairs.”

Carter told Channel 11 she feels like the police aren’t doing anything to address this situation.

“I’m like are you guys going to arrest him? They are like no, we can’t arrest him. He’s too drunk. The jails won’t take him,” she said.

She said the incident happened when her fiancé was not home and she just wants answers from police.

Channel 11 reached out to McKeesport police about the incident. We were directed to a neighboring department.

Despite Carter having a McKeesport mailing address, a neighboring department actually covers the area where Carter lives. Channel 11 was told to contact that department on Tuesday.
