Man charged with homicide by vehicle in death of Norwin High School student

The man who was behind the wheel during a violent accident that killed a Norwin senior has been charged with homicide by vehicle.

"I just miss my friend a lot," said Victory Playso Jr., who was charged.

Playso was driving the night in early December when Logan Dyson lost his life. He was barely 18, and hadn't graduated from high school.

"I worked with him for over a year and his mom entrusted me to ride him to work every once in a while, and I made sure all that was cool and I'm a very responsible young man,” said Playso.

Investigators say Playso was going 73 mph in a 45 mph zone. Three seconds before the crash, he rode the guide rail on Route 993 before the car went over the rail and rolled onto its roof 75 feet down an embankment.

"Windy, dark road, even though the road is posted at 45, common sense has to come into play while you're driving,” said Patrolman Theodore Kukich of the North Huntingdon Township Police.

Playso and Logan worked together and court paperwork said the two stopped at a bar in Manor before the crash. Neither Playso nor Logan were wearing a seatbelt at the time. Logan ended up dying at the hospital.

"We submitted all our reports to the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office and subsequently yesterday, I was directed to file the following charges that you have,” said Kukich.

"Accidents suck, so, but I guess I'm looking to go back to normality at this point,” Playso said.
