N. Versailles police show support for dispatcher's breast cancer battle

NORTH VERSAILLES, Pa. — The North Versailles Police Department is rallying around one of its own in October, which is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Patrolmen are wearing pink badges and carrying pink handcuffs in honor of Lynn Moore.

She's a stage 2 breast cancer survivor who works as a dispatcher in the department.

"When you come into work and see your guys wearing pink badges, you don't feel so alone anymore," Moore said. "We all have mothers and sisters, and it could be any one so we all lived it as if was our own."

Moore is going on almost two years cancer-free, but the fight continues.

"I underwent a double mastectomy, radiation and I take daily oral chemo pills," Moore said.

Moore's best friend, Debby, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, so she decided to get checked out.

A year later, she was fighting the same battle.

"My friend Debby lost her battle with cancer after I finished my treatment so she was like my angel that saved my life,” Moore said.

Moore said, without the department’s love, she wouldn't be here today.

"I'm a survivor. Here I am, telling my story,” Moore said.
