“They rushed into the home, began to beat the man,” said Trooper Ronald Kesten of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Police say one man had a knife and the other had a gun. It was a home-invasion robbery.

“They forced him to open a safe, they stole many things from the residence, continued to beat the man kicking, punching and pistol-whipping the victim,” Kesten said.

Police are still searching for his attackers.

The victim's injuries are severe. He was flown to Allegheny General Hospital.

“The victim was incapacitated for approximately 12 hours before a family member arrived at the residence and contacted 911 to get him some help,” Kesten said.

Police say the attackers were two white men in their early 20s and that's the best description they have.

The victim told police he had never seen them before.
