A Washington County police officer is facing several charges after being arrested on accusations that he assaulted a woman and threatened her with his service weapon.
But he told police a different story.
Monongahela city police arrested Gregory Respress.
According to police paperwork, the argument started over the victim going through Respress's phone.

The victim told police: "Respress became enraged and grabbed her on the back of her neck, then pushed her to the ground."
She also told police Respress grabbed his service weapon, pointed it at her and told her he'd kill her.
But Respress claims this isn't what happened at all. He told police the victim broke a picture frame and went after him with a broken piece of glass. Then he alleges the victim is the one who grabbed his service weapon and shot it several times.
Channel 11 stopped by the house where the alleged incident occurred, but no one came to the door.
Channel 11 also learned Respress works for the Southwest Regional Police Department.
Respress has since been released on bond.
Channel 11 reached out to his department for comment and has not yet heard back.
