Red Cross looking for local shelter volunteers for Hurricane Irma

PITTSBURGH — The American Red Cross Western Pennsylvania Region is looking for volunteers to help people who will be affected by Hurricane Irma.

Over the next week, the organization is looking to train shelter volunteers who will be deployed to help, if needed.

The Red Cross will be holding 13 sheltering boot camps over the next 10 days.

Prospective volunteers need to be at least 18 years old and willing to be deployed for 2 to 3 weeks if needed.

You must register in advance and the courses are free.
