MURRYSVILLE, Pa. — A Franklin Regional High School student was arrested for allegedly making a threat on social media that prompted the district to close Friday, police said.
The post on Snapchat showed someone holding a firearm and included the words "almost time," police said. It was brought to the attention of police overnight.

"It happened in Florida, could happen here," said Murrysville resident Lucy Clippinger.
Police said there was no direct threat made toward the school district, personnel or students. However, officials decided to close out of an abundance of caution, in large part because of the Wednesday shooting at a Florida high school that ended with 17 dead; police have charged a former student there.

"i don't know what's up with these kids," said Murrysville resident Tim Fox.
The student allegedly responsible was arrested about 9 a.m. Friday at a home in Turtle Creek and taken for a mental health evaluation, police said.
“I would like to thank the school district, residents and general public for coming together in supplying the MPD with the critical information. The cooperative effort between all assisted us with a quick apprehension,” the Murrysville Police Department Chief said in a post on the department’s Facebook page.
Some blame a copycat mentality.
"I think it's everyone wanting to be noticed and get on the news," said Murrysville resident Dean Tortorice.
