HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office confirmed there was a fatal crash in Hempfield Township early Saturday.
Michael J. Luther, 57, of South Greensburg Borough, died after his vehicle collided head-on with another car, according to a release from the coroner’s office.

The two-vehicle accident happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Arona Road near Greek Road.
Luther was driving a Suzuki XL-7 traveling east on Arona Road when he crossed the center line into the opposite lane of traffic “for an unknown reason,” the release said.
The release said Luther’s car collided head-on with a Subaru Forester. Luther was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.
He was declared dead at the scene.

It is unclear whether or not cell phone use played a factor in the accident.
According to the release, there was one passenger in Luther’s vehicle, but information on that person was not released.
Pennsylvania State Police Greensburg Barracks is assisting in the investigation.
