NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A puppy left for dead is doing great Thursday with a little love and care, and police say they have an active warrant for the arrest of the woman responsible.

Chief Bobby Salem tells Channel 11 that Karrington Dukes, 19, not only abandoned her apartment but left her 10-week-old puppy inside to fend for itself with no food or water for almost three weeks.

New Castle police rescued the weak, wobbly and skinny puppy. The newly named Miranda is now eating and gaining weight.
