Woman recovering after police say man kidnapped her

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A woman is recovering after police say a man ran her off the road, tried to hit her with his car and then kidnapped her.

New Castle police said it was a domestic dispute that got out of hand.

They said this woman took a massive beating, was thrown into a car and taken across county lines.

Investigators believe Brandon Samuels, enraged with his girlfriend, forced her vehicle off the road, tried to run her over and then beat her until she was unconscious.

Officers said it didn't end there; they said he threw her into his vehicle and took off, essentially kidnapping her.

The assault happened along Duquesne Street in New Castle, Lawrence County, on Thursday night.

"There was a lot of screaming, and that's when the cops were already there," said neighbor Marlene Papa.

Police said Samuels took off and they found him and his victim more than 30 miles away in Grove City.

She was beaten, but otherwise OK.

"She's lucky to be OK," Papa said. "This is a very peaceful neighborhood, nothing like this happens. It shakes you up."

A friend of the victim, who did not want to be identified, said Samuels' behavior has been going on for a while.

The victim is recovering at home, with family.

Samuels is charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property.

Police just arrested Samuels last month for assaulting and strangling the same woman.
