PITTSBURGH,None — The next phase of construction along Route 28 is set to begin on Monday. Officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said this phase is the most expensive portion of the massive project.

Crews will begin overnight work in the southbound lanes, with traffic restricted to one lane.
On September 6, traffic patterns will move closer to the river and until the fall of 2014. Crews will maintain two southbound lanes and one northbound lane for drivers.
The work will be done from the 40th Street Bridge to the 16th Street Bridge.
