'ALF' actor Michu Meszaros dies at 76, TMZ reports

LOS ANGELES — Michu Meszaros, the actor who played the furry alien character in the hit TV show "ALF" has died, according to TMZ. He was 76.

Meszaros had been admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles after he was discovered unresponsive at home, according to TMZ. He had reportedly been a coma ever since.

Originally from Hungary, Meszaros was a circus performer and later became a good friend of Michael Jackson.

The actor, who was 2 feet, 9 inches tall, was best known for his lead role on "ALF," where he suited up in a furry alien costume when the show called for full-body shots of the lead character which otherwise was performed by a puppet.

"ALF" aired on NBC from 1986 to 1990. ALF was an acronym for, "Alien Life Form." The wise-cracking alien crash-lands into a suburban family's garage, and they take him in as a new family member.
