School bus driver saves 20 children after bus catches fire

A Maryland school bus driver whose bus burst into flames on Monday went back into the vehicle and saved 20 children.

CBS Baltimore said the fire was reported Monday while the school bus was parked in College Park, Maryland., with 20 children on their way to an elementary school. The driver, Reneita Smith, returned and helped the children out one by one before going back one last time to make sure she had gotten everyone, according to a Facebook post by Fazlul Kabir.

"I am a mom of two kids; it's my job to save them," Smith told Kabir in the post. "My biggest reward is my babies are safe. Because whenever I drive any school, they're my children until I drop them off to their biological parents," she told WUSA.

CBS Baltimore said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but all the children made it out without any injuries.
