Trial set for Plum teacher accused of intimidation

PITTSBURGH — Jury selection was set to begin for a suspended western Pennsylvania teacher accused of intimidating a female student who accused another teacher of having sex with her.

According to Channel 11 News' exchange partner TribLive,  there is one juror so far, due to many hearing about the case already.

Drew Zoldak is accused of pointing out the Plum High School girl in class last year and telling students she was the reason he was questioned by the Allegheny County district attorney's office.

His attorney says even if that's true that Zoldak didn't intimidate the girl because he didn't suggest she shouldn't cooperate with authorities.

Another teacher accused by that girl, 39-year-old Joseph Ruggieri, has pleaded guilty to having sex with her and is serving 2 to 5 years in prison.

Another male teacher is also imprisoned for sex with another female student, and a third is awaiting trial on similar charges.
