Windstream phone outage in Armstrong County impacts calls to 911

“There is currently a Windstream phone outage affecting the 814-275 phone exchanges in South Bethlehem, Distant, and Mahoning Twp. If you have an emergency and are unable to reach emergency help via landline, we are advising you to use a cell phone, or go to your local fire, police, or EMS station. So far, the Distant Vol Fire Dept in Armstrong County is currently manned along with fire and EMS companies in Clarion County in the New Bethlehem and Hawthorne area manned as well. We at Armstrong County DPS are also putting out a Vesta alert to the affected area for our citizens. Windstream communications is aware of the issue, and are currently working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible."

As of 8:30 p.m. Monday, Armstrong County 911 dispatchers confirmed that the phone outage had not yet been resolved.
