Pirates fan goes for foul ball, ends up with face full of nachos

PITTSBURGH — If you're on Twitter, you may have been wondering why "nachos" was trending Wednesday night in Pittsburgh. Here's why:

Korey Hineman is the man the nation now knows as “Nacho Man” -- the baseball fan who went for Jung Ho Kang's foul ball and ended up with his snacks all over him.

“I didn't even see or hear it ... I look up and it felt like it was right in front of my face, so I didn't have time to set anything down or think, so I just went for it, “ Hineman said after losing his nachos and half a beer -- on camera.

“At the time you're not thinking about that. You're throwing away all this food just for a cheap baseball, but I really wanted the baseball,” he said.

Unfortunately, he didn’t get the foul ball, and the texts and the phone calls haven't stopped since Hineman and his "nachos" have been all over social media.

“Partway through the game I saw some girls on their phone, trying to sneak pictures of me, and I thought, 'That's kind of weird,' and then it kept going from there,” Hineman said.

The Pirates made good with Hineman and gave him a new shirt, a ball and new nachos -- and gained a fan in this Wisconsin transplant.

“I'm a pretty loyal guy, so I like to stick to my teams. But yeah, I guess I'm a little bit more of a Pirates fan now," Hineman said.
