PITTSBURGH — James Conner’s start with the Pittsburgh Steelers is off to a rough start. He pulled his hamstring during the first day of rookie minicamp, according to Mark Kaboly of DK Pittsburgh Sports.

The third-round draft pick has yet to step back on the field since the injury.

Conner’s hamstring injury is considered minor, however he is missing valuable snaps as a rookie with the absence of starting running back Le’veon Bell out recovering from offseason core muscle surgery.

The rookie, from Erie, Pennsylvania, was a two-year starter at Pitt where he rushed for 1,765 yards and 26 touchdowns and was named the ACC Player of the Year his sophomore season.
