Le'Veon Bell uses Twitter to announce return to Steelers

Le'Veon Bell got Steelers Nation excited Tuesday night when he tweeted he will report to the team on Sept. 1 with a winky face emoji. The tweet was in response to someone asking when he would be back.

That Friday is the day after the Pittsburgh Steelers' last preseason game.

Bell missed all of training camp and has yet to sign his franchise tender of $12.12 million.

He's been training on his own in South Florida while the team has been in camp for more than three weeks now.

TRENDING NOW:

Bell will have just nine days with the team before the season opener in Cleveland.

"We always want our guys here, but you know he didn't have to be here so we want him here because he's an amazing football player and he helps this team," quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said. "It will be exciting when he gets here, and hopefully it won't take him long to get into football shape."

"When he gets here I'll address the circumstances that we're dealing with regarding him, but until that time I'll continue to focus on the guys that are here and working," added head coach Mike Tomlin.
