Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Stephon Tuitt's injury not season-ending

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers dodged a bullet Monday when it was learned that defensive tackle Stephon Tuitt did not suffer a season-ending injury and is considered week-to-week.

“I’m not going to speak because I am not a doctor, but it’s not season-ending,” fellow defensive lineman Cam Heyward said. “I know some people already reported that he was going to miss the rest of the season so I texted him to make sure nothing was finalized. To hear that already can be detrimental. Your psyche is already messed up. We are very happy that it wasn’t season-ending and we will get more information soon.”

The injury took place on the second play from scrimmage during Sunday’s season opener against the Cleveland Browns.

“It’s not the greatest news,” defensive end Tyson Alualu said. “But it’s good news for us that he will be back.”

When that will take place is still unknown, but everyone will have a better idea when Mike Tomlin addresses the media Tuesday afternoon.
