Steelers veteran enjoys Olympics hype while at training camp

LATROBE, Pa. — The Steelers opened a week of joint practices with the Detroit Lions Tuesday at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe.

"We've been hitting each other for a while now, so it will be good to switch it up,” said Cody Wallace, a Steelers offensive lineman. “I'm sure practice will be pretty intense at certain points but hopefully we can keep our cool and have a good productive day."

To get through the dog days of training camp, Wallace has been enjoying the Olympics in Rio.

"Really, I like all of it,” said Wallace. “I've been lucky enough that this is my third Olympics to see during a training camp-type setting. I remember a couple of Olympics back when Michael Phelps was breaking all of the records and stuff so it's cool to see him swimming. The gymnastics is cool to watch all the strength and just see the athleticism those guys have."

The Steelers and Detroit Lions will play Friday in the preseason opener at Heinz Field.
