Pittsburgh Superstars: Sidney Crosby

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby won back-to-back gold medals with Team Canada in 2010 and 2014, but it was his game winning goal in overtime against Team USA in Vancouver that is most remembered.

It was definitely a moment when Penguins fans were torn over whether to be happy for Crosby or sad for Team USA.

Crosby talked to Channel 11 about the goal on the 10th anniversary.

“When I think back, just an amazing experience at the Olympics,” he said. “Being a Canadian in Canada (and) to have it finish off that way, it was pretty special.”

Crosby was selected as a member of Team Canada’s 2022 team before the NHL pulled out of the Beijing games. He said it’s unfortunate that he and many others didn’t get to play in the Olympics this year.
