Arrest warrant issued for former Steeler Baron Batch after reports of graffiti

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police have issued an arrest warrant for former Pittsburgh Steeler and local artist Baron Batch on 30 counts of criminal mischief involving graffiti Monday.

The graffiti was found along Three Rivers Heritage Trail, the Hot Metal Bridge, and the Mon Warf parking lot.

Police said the total damages from the graffiti is estimated at $26,200.

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Graffiti Unit will be serving the warrant in the next few days and make the official arrest.

Batch has previously transformed four garages at the corner of 15th and Bingham streets in the South Side with his trademark elephant paintings. He said that it's part of his efforts to beautify the city.

He added that he paints elephants because, for him, they represent community and, therefore, his love for Pittsburgh.
