New charges filed against serial rape suspect

PITTSBURGH — More charges have been filed against a serial rape suspect after more alleged victims have come forward.

Justin Stover, 29, of Beechview, was first arrested in November in connection with two rapes. Since then, two more women who saw reports of his arrest said he also raped them.

One of women said Stover raped her in 2007. She told police that Stover gave her a ride home from a party then suddenly pulled on to a side street near Broadway Avenue in Beechview.

According to a criminal complaint, the woman said Stover “began tearing her clothing off.” She told him “no,” but was “overpowered by him.”

The woman did not call police at that time but came forward after seeing news reports two weeks ago that Stover had been charged with raping two women, one in September in Beltzhoover and the other in November in Knoxville.

The second recent rape allegation was in July at an abandoned house, also in Beltzhoover. The woman told police she had just left a bar, when a man grabbed her and forced her into a vacant house. According to a criminal complaint, she yelled at the man to let her go, but the man “slammed her head to the ground, causing her to be dazed.”

Stover remains in the Allegheny County Jail unable to post bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
