Back in August, Channel 11 was there as investigators went in and out of a McKees Rocks home trying to figure out how she died.

Channel 11 has learned the little girl somehow got carfentanil into her system and that's what led to her death.

Channel 11 has told you about how dangerous the drug can be.

Even a dose of carfentanil as small as a grain of sand can be deadly.

It's 100 times stronger than fentanyl and 10,000 times stronger than morphine.

While the investigation continues, the little girl's parents have been speaking out on social media having just celebrated what would've been the girl's 2nd birthday this week.

In one post, her father writes, "Now what, that I don't got u here I'm lost and confused. I don't understand y u ain't here y you can't celebrate ur day at all it's killin' me everyday of my life. I want u back."

He talks about the bond he and his daughter shared and how he just wanted to scream out to her happy birthday, and that he misses her and loves her.

When she died on Aug. 6 in McKees Rocks, her death was initially ruled an accident.

Allegheny County police are still investigating this.

Channel 11 asked whether anyone would be charged.

Officers said the only thing they would say is because of their open investigation, they won't give out any further information.
