Police said in the post the department had the permission of the victims to post the video. The incident occurred within the last month at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Hickman Street. In the video, a woman and young girl are walking the crosswalk as a dark-colored car keeps rolling. Both the woman and girl are hit as the driver slams on their brakes.

Police said the driver was focused on two other people who had not yet crossed the street. The victims also did not wish to pursue criminal charges.

“My mother and daughter could have been killed. I don’t know what I would have done if that happened. Honest to God,” said Cassandra Gorsop.

Gorsop said her daughter was walking with her grandmother in the video.

“My little baby went flying and she jumped up like a champ,” she said.

The girl was okay, but her grandmother suffered a broken rib and a concussion from the crash. Gorsop said she just wants people to be more aware.

“Just pay attention and watch out because you never know when something will change your life indefinitely. It only takes a second. He could have put his head down for a second, I don’t know,” Gorsop said.
