Employees held at gunpoint during Eat'n Park robbery

PITTSBURGH — A man robbed a Pittsburgh restaurant at gunpoint late Sunday night just as employees were leaving.

The robber entered the Eat'n Park at Waterworks Mall shortly before midnight. He held employees, who were securing the building to leave, at gunpoint, police said.

The man told one of the employees to take him to an office, where two other employees were, and demanded all of the money in a safe, police said. After taking an undisclosed amount of money, he pepper-sprayed the three employees and fled.

The man had a raspy voice and was about 5 feet 2 inches tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, a black mask, gloves and sunglasses.

Paramedics treated the employees at the scene.

“We are working closely with police to apprehend the robber. The safety of our team members and guests is our No. 1 priority,” an Eat’n Park spokesperson said in a statement.

Two other Eat’n Park restaurants have been robbed in recent weeks.

The Eat’n Park in Monroeville was robbed Saturday afternoon by an older man who ate lunch before he approached a worker in an office and demanded money, police said.

About a month ago, the Eat’n Park in Squirrel Hill was robbed around opening time. Police said a masked man walked into an office and pointed a gun at two employees. He got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Pittsburgh police cannot say if the robberies are connected, but did say the suspect wore a similar disguise in two of the holdups.
