Grievances show why Brentwood police officers have no confidence in chief

Brentwood police officers voted 11 to 1 that they have no confidence in their chief earlier this month.

11 Investigates just discovered new information that shows why the officers don't have confidence in police Chief Adam Zeppuhar.

There are grievances, dating back to November 2016,  showing problems that include traffic citations being dismissed, union guidelines not being followed and officers not being allowed to go to court for cases.

In an email from March, the chief admitted, "I do acknowledge that the procedure was not followed as specified in the contract."

There's also an email in which the chief asks the DA if his officers are needed in a case, writing quote, "If possible, I prefer not to send them and create a hardship on the borough."

"I continue to strongly support the chief as he continues to introduce recognized best practices,” Brentwood Mayor Dennis Troy said, in part of a text message to Channel 11.

A union spokesperson said, over the phone, the biggest problem is the chief telling officers what tickets to write and not write, and not letting anyone know about the status of court situations.

He's afraid a judge will issue arrest warrants and pick up officers for not showing up to court when they might not know about it.

The mayor said they aren't taking any action against the chief in light of this vote.

The chief told Channel 11, "no comment."
