Human remains found at home being renovated

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are investigating after female human remains were found in the city’s Garfield neighborhood.

The discovery was made by contractors at a house in the 5400 block of Black Street that was being renovated. The remains were buried behind the home.

"We do not have any information yet as to how long these bones have been there. We do not have any information as to how they ended up there," said Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety assistant Alicia George.

Police said they found clothing that would indicate the remains belong to a female although they dont know her age or race at this time.

Neighbors told Channel 11 no one has lived in the home for years and it has been under renovation for quite some time.

On Wednesday morning, contractors were preparing back of the house for a deck installation when they discovered the bones in the mud and dirt.
