Incident involving teacher, student at same school where recent attacked stemmed from

PITTSBURGH — Two teachers were assaulted in less than a week and Pittsburgh Public Schools are remaining tight-lipped about what happened inside Pittsburgh King PreK-8 school on Tuesday.

Channel 11 has learned a teacher needed medical attention and some people are calling for safety improvements.

A spokesperson told Channel 11 the incident involved a teacher and a student.

The teacher had to be taken to Concentra Urgent Care for medical treatment.

Nina Esposito-Visgitis, the president of the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers told Channel 11 she doesn't know the extent of the teacher's injuries.

But she says she is meeting with the superintendent of Pittsburgh Public Schools Wednesday to discuss what is going on at King School, as well as other safety measures.

She told Channel 11 that it's important that the parents, teachers and administration work together so, "Pittsburgh Public Schools is somewhere where kids want to go, teachers want to teach and parents want to send their kids."

Channel 11 was there Tuesday as Vincent Beasley, the second suspect accused of assaulting another teacher outside of the King school, turned himself into police.

Beasley's girlfriend, Daishonta Williams, remains locked up as prosecutors fight to keep her there, saying she's a threat.

Pittsburgh Public Schools would not comment further on the latest incident, calling it a personnel matter.

Williams is scheduled to go before a judge Wednesday morning.
