Police issue warning after three homes burglarized in two weeks

KENNEDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police in Kennedy Township are putting out a warning after three homes were burglarized in two weeks.

They're doing everything they can to let residents know about the unusual activity.

"Lock your doors and if you see any unusual activity, call 911," advised Chief Anthony Bruni of Kennedy Township police.

Police tell Channel 11 the burglars have been preying on one particular neighborhood.

Last week, it was a house on Green Oak Drive; before that, it was a house on Diebold. Then Monday, a homeowner on Christine Drive caught a man trying to break in through a back door.

He was reportedly dressed in black and carrying a black bag of some sort.

The break-ins happened, police say, at homes that appear a bit secluded from the street.

"Homeowner heard a noise outside his house, went outside and saw someone trying to pry his window open," Bruni said.

Caught in the act, that suspect took off, but Bruni told Channel 11 in one case the suspect got in through an already open garage door. In another case, the suspect or suspects forced their way in through a window.

"We are asking people to keep their their eyes open, if they see anything out of the ordinary to give us a call," Bruni said.

Police say the burglars are taking anything that is valuable.
