RUSSELLTON, Pa. — A woman called 911 after she says she saw someone dressed as a clown approaching three little girls who were screaming Saturday night in Russellton.
Amanda Glew told Channel 11's Lori Houy that she was getting out of her car with her 2-year-old son when she saw the girls and the clown at the intersection of Eisenhower and McArthur drives.
“They were screaming, ‘Oh my God, there's a clown, there's a clown,’ and I told them, I said, ‘Run.’ And they all took off running,” Glew said. “There was someone dressed in a jumpsuit and a clown face. I don't know if it was a mask or paint.”
Upon calling 911, Glew said she grabbed a knife and ran to her mother’s house three doors down.
Police officers soon arrived and began searching the area, which caught the attention of Jason Davidson, who lives a couple of streets over.
“I see police cars everywhere, and they're shining their spotlights in houses and yards, and I’m like, oh my God, what's going on here?” Davidson said.
Although police did not find anything, Davidson said he saw someone or something run through his backyard.
“So we hurried up and locked all our doors and locked our windows, and I ran out to go to my mom’s house to make sure they were OK,” Davidson said.
With clown sighting in other states, as well as other parts of western Pennsylvania, Russellton residents like Glew and Davidson are on alert.
“It's frightening to know that there’s someone out there trying to scare or lure your kids,” Glew said.
