CINCINNATI — Ryan Shazier stopped to thank hospital workers at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center prior to the Steelers' game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

The star linebacker suffered a spinal injury in December while making a tackle against the Bengals and was taken to the hospital.

He posted a video on Twitter of his visit, saying, "It’s been a long journey, but this is still a ways to go. But it all started here in Cincinnati. Today was an amazing day I was so thankful to be able to tell everyone thank you. #Shalieve."

He underwent spinal stabilization surgery several days after the injury at UPMC.

On Sunday, Shazier walked onto the field at Paul Brown Stadium for the first time since his injury.
