Woman settles lawsuit in LA Fitness shooting

PITTSBURGH (AP) — One of nine women to survive a shooting at a Collier Township health club in August 2009 has settled her lawsuit against the estate of the gunman, who committed suicide that night, and the LA Fitness chain.

The attorney for Heather Sherba, 25, of Presto, filed court papers Monday announcing that the lawsuit has been settled and discontinued. An LA Fitness attorney declined comment.

Sherba was shot twice during the rampage in which George Sodini murdered three women and wounded eight others who were attending an aerobics class at the health club. Sodini then shot himself.

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed in the documents filed late last month.
