11 things to do with mom for Mother’s Day

Most people and their mothers share a bond like no other. Mother’s Day is on Sunday, and it is your chance to show your appreciation.

We’ve all been stuck at home while we social distance to help flatten the curve during the COVID 19, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything fun you can do to show Mom you care.

We have a list of 11 things to do with Mom. Most of them can be done whether you are physically there, celebrating from a social distance or even virtually.

Clean

We know what you are thinking… CLEAN!? That is usually music to Mom’s ears.

In addition to Mother’s Day, Sunday is National Clean Your Room Day. If Mom has been on your case about tidying up the room or even the house, this is a simple way to show you listen and can get the job done!

Pro tip: If you have siblings, you can even recruit them to help, and if your mom likes to clean, make it a team effort.

Host a movie marathon

When is the last time Mom got to pick the movies? Grab the popcorn and have mom’s favorite movies on standby!

A movie marathon is a fun way to chill out and hunker down for a relaxing day.

Binge new or favorite show

Television has always had a way of getting people talking and even bringing them together. There are plenty of binge-worthy shows out there, and social distancing gives you the perfect excuse to start a new one with Mom.

You can even catch up or rewatch some old favorites. No matter what you decide this could become a nice weekly (or daily) bonding session!

Cook

Cooking is given! Cook with Mom or better yet, cook for her! There is no wrong answer with food unless you don’t pick out something she enjoys.

If cooking isn’t your forte, bust out the cookbooks and try out some sweet treats, or order out from her favorite restaurant.

Pamper and relax

Treat mom like the queen she is host an at-home spa day.

This is an easy at-home activity and there are plenty of things to do between painting nails, doing a deep condition hair mask or busting out a nice face mask. It is something relaxing and fun!

Game on

Simple, and fun! This is one that gets the whole family involved.

Grab the cards, puzzles or board games and have a nice friendly competition. Who doesn’t enjoy getting away from the TV for some classic gaming?

Pro tip: Let Mom win for Mother’s Day bonus points!

Travel down memory lane

While you create new memories, don’t forget to look at the old.

It is always nice to bust out some old pictures from your mom’s childhood and yours, and can make for a touching Mother’s Day activities as you find and discuss your favorite memories with mom.

Craft

If there is one thing that never gets old, it is some crafting! Make Mom a card or find crafts that you can assemble together.

You can even get creative and take the crafting outside to build a garden, chalk or other DIY activities!

Take a walk

Bonding can be as simple as taking a nice stroll!

Walk through the neighborhood, hit up a trail or take a hike. No matter what you decide, this is the perfect way to get out and about with Mom.

GIVE her ‘me time'

This could potentially be the best gift you can give a busy mom! As Mom cares for everyone, it is important that she remembers to care for herself.

Send Mom to her room or her favorite reading chair and give her time to do something SHE wants to do -- with no interruptions.

Get her a gift

And alas, getting Mom a gift is always a classic.

Flowers, cards and everything in between. Something so small can be just what you need to say “thanks” to mom.

All of these things are great for Mother’s Day, but the most important thing is that you are doing them together and/or for someone who means so much.
