Three Rivers Arts Festival goes virtual:

For the first time in 61 years, one of the biggest weekends of Pittsburgh’s summer is going virtual -- and it all kicks off on Friday.

And don’t forget about the food and music!

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust wanted to keep the Three Rivers Arts Festival going by creating an online festival from June 5 through 14.

More than 350 artists will have their own webpages to get to know them and their work, which will be showcased and available for purchase.

Performances will stream online daily and food trucks will make appearances in various neighborhoods.

The famous Gateway Clipper is resuming sightseeing cruises Friday for you to get on the water and check out all the views Pittsburgh has to offer.

The cruises will be open all day, running 1-hour cruises.

Pennsylvania State Parks beaches start reopening:

Things just keep getting better and better.

Starting Friday, Pennsylvania State Park’s swimming beaches will reopen, just in time for summer to kick off.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn announced a phased reopening of all state park swimming beaches and some pools.

All 58 state park beaches will reopen for swimming. State park pools will stay closed through at least June 12, with most in designated yellow and green counties reopening June 13.

Pittsburgh Public Theater Virtual Reading:

The Pittsburgh Public Theater has joined the virtual world for playtime at home, and this week was an exciting one for us.

On Thursday, the troupe provided a special reading of “The Cake” by Bekah Brunsetter. In addition to writing “The Cake,” Brunsetter writes for NBC’s “This Is Us.”

Friday at 7 p.m., Brunsetter will talk about “The Cake” and host a Q & A to share a behind-the-scenes look at writing for the NBC drama.

Pittsburgh Zoo reopens:

Have you been missing your favorite animals at the zoo?

The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium officially opens up Friday with a timed ticketing station and other changes.

The zoo said the safety of its animals, staff and visitors are the top priority.
