PITTSBURGH — A history lesson for patients and families at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Thursday morning. And we’re talking WAY back in history.
They learned about dinosaurs and got up-close-and-personal with a baby T-Rex named Tyson and a paleontologist from Jurassic Quest, an interactive traveling dinosaur show that’s in Pittsburgh this weekend at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

“Obviously, dinosaurs are a hugely popular thing for kids of all ages. There are a lot of kids here who love it," said Rebecca Desmond, special events coordinator for the Child Life Department at Children’s. “One of the things we try and do at the hospital is give them the opportunity to do things here that they would normally being doing outside of the hospital. Unfortunately, most of our kids aren’t going to be able to get down to the Convention Center to see the Jurassic Quest and get up close and personal with the dinosaurs, so it means a lot to the kids that they wanted to come here and give them the opportunity.”
Jurassic Quest is in Pittsburgh through February 8.
