One person is recovering and neighbors said they are fed up with recent violence after another shooting in New Kensington.

The shooting was reported on Ridge Avenue Wednesday night. Officials said the victim was shot in the neck and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital. Police combed the area looking for evidence, and neighbors said they heard at least one gunshot.

Neighbors said the violence is getting too close to home.

“It's not just in so-called urban areas. It's everywhere. People are going crazy everywhere and I don't know why. It is scary,” Kelly Kylie said.

Last week, while officers were looking for evidence near Constitution Boulevard, several shots were fired toward the officers. No one was injured.

“I've noticed an increase in violence, an increase in drug use. It's encroaching onto the suburbs that I live in,” Kylie said.

Wednesday night’s shooting happened just a few feet away from a bus stop where children gather every morning, and parents said they’re not taking any chances.

“You have to be very careful where you live and what you do. I have a permit to carry and a lot of people do." Mackenzie Finley said. “It's hard. People have to police each other."

The victim’s condition has not been released. Police said the shooting remains under investigation and they are looking for the shooter. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
