LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. — A fourth-grader is being hailed as a hero after he helped save a man that was found lying face down in the snow in Lawrence County.
Owen Sambol, 9, was walking home from school Friday when he heard a faint cry for help.
He ran behind a house to see what it was and found a man face down in the snow.
Owen tried to get the man up, but couldn’t. He then told the man he would be back with his mother.
Owen’s mother is a firefighter and knew exactly what to do. She dialed 911 and brought the man she believed was suffering from hypothermia into her home.
“I’m proud of him. Had he been out there any longer and who knows,” Owen’s mother Ashley Sambol said.
