ALIQUIPPA, Pa.,None — An Aliquippa firefighter is recovering from a broken elbow sustained when the ladder on a fire truck collapsed as he battled a blaze at a garage and towing company.
Fire officials said Capt. James Pennington was hurt while batting the fire Sunday at Junak's Auto Repair along Franklin Avenue.
Witnesses said the ladder extended from the truck buckled and collapsed, sending Pennington to the ground.
"He was transported to Allegheny General Hospital, and he should be alright," said Chief Dave Foringer. "He's got some broken bones, but I don't believe anything is lifeithreatening at this time."
The firefighter's name and condition have not been released.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
