PITTSBURGH — A blind man was hit by a Port Authority bus Tuesday in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, officials said.

The accident happened around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Bouquet Street.

Port Authority spokesman Adam Brandolph said the victim got off the bus and reached his can out onto the street, which got caught on the rear bumper of the bus and pulled him toward the vehicle.

Brandolph said the victim struck the side of the bus and suffered some cuts to his face. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in an ambulance.
