PITTSBURGH — A 14-year-old boy who had life-saving surgery last week is leaving the hospital and going home for Thanksgiving.

Adam Snow was hours from dying last week before receiving a new liver.

Doctors said his quick turnaround was incredible. Snow has been walking and eating normally.

Doctors said Snow may return to school after the new year, and he should lead a normal life with the help of anti-rejection medicine.

"I believe that life definitely cannot be taken for granted. Obviously I'm young, but I mean, I definitely have a new outlook on life and want to enjoy it as much as I can," said Snow.

According to his parents, Linda and Skip Snow, Snow developed flu-like symptoms and yellowing eyes. They took him to Children’s Hospital, and within days, he was transferred to the intensive care unit.

Doctors said they diagnosed Adam with a mysterious and incurable disease from an airborne virus that began attacking his liver and causing it to fail.

He was given 36 hours to live if he didn’t receive a liver.
