Burglar Hits Popular McCandless, Ross Restaurants

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa.,None — Police are investigating after someone broke into three restaurants in Ross Township and one in McCandless early Monday morning.

Investigators believe that all four break-ins are connected. The first happened at Kretzler's restaurant on Babcock Boulevard.

The owner of Kretzler's told Channel 11's Brandon Hudson that surveillance video caught the thief in action.

"It looks like he threw a bar stool through the door," said Butch Kretzler.

Kretzler said the thief then ran around the bar to get to the cash register. The tape shows the man trying to pry the register open. After he's not able to, he steals a bottle of liquor and flees.

"I don't know which one he took. It was top shelf. Maybe worth $18 or $19," Kretzler said.

Police said they think the same man broke into Lupi's Pizza on Babcock Boulevard, a McKnight Road Pizza Hut and Pizza Roma in McCandless.

Investigators said all three break-ins happened within 45 minutes.

"Police said it's probably somebody looking for quick cash for drugs or something," Kretzler said.

The owner of Pizza Roma told Channel 11 News that the thief didn't steal anything from his restaurant. It is not clear if anything was taken from the Pizza Hut, though police said the man smashed the front window to get in to the building.

Police said the person they are looking for is a white man who was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with gloves and a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
