AMBRIDGE, Pa. — A grandfather is searching for answers after his 5-year-old granddaughter was left with a stranger in a neighborhood more than half a mile away from where she was supposed to be dropped off.

Sam Taylor told Channel 11 his granddaughter’s first day of school at Baden Academy went well until her bus driver left him with a complete stranger.

"I'm mad, frustrated and upset because I shouldn't have to even think about this. If the bus driver had used proper protocol, none of this would have happened," said Taylor.

He said the bus driver pulled over and asked a woman who was walking with children if she knew who the child was. The woman said no but still left the kindergartner with her.

“He sees a young lady, a mother with children walking with her kids - he blows his horn opens the door, and asked her, ‘Do you know who this little child is?’ And she says, ‘No,’" said Taylor.

Taylor said he is thankful the good Samaritan made sure his granddaughter got home safely.

Baden Academy’s chief executive officer, Lauren Bensink, told Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski that the incident is being investigated and said,

"The safety of our students is of the utmost importance. We continue to work closely with their bus companies to ensure safe transportation for all our students," said Bensink.

RJ Rhodes Transit told Channel 11 the driver did not follow protocol and the incident is being investigated.
